Courageous Living in Turbulent Times

Sunday, July 8, 2012

As children, we learn the dramatic story of Daniel in the lion's den. We know that God protected him, but in this sermon, Pastor Lindsey gives us "the rest of the story".

As one of three administrators, Daniel had so impressed King Darius that the king planned to place him over all of the land. But jealous rivals convinced the king to issue a decree that everyone must bow down only to the king or be thrown into the lion's den.

And that is where "the rest of the story" comes in. Daniel continued to pray to God three times daily, and the king was forced to deliver him to the lions. Daniel's courage and faithfulness to God saved him from death, and his witness to his faith converted the king and the nation.

Then King Darius wrote to all the nations and peoples of every language in all the earth: "May you prosper greatly! "I issue a decree that in every part of my kingdom people must fear and reverence the God of Daniel. "For he is the living God and he endures forever; his kingdom will not be destroyed, his dominion will never end. He rescues and he saves; he performs signs and wonders in the heavens and on the earth. He has rescued Daniel from the power of the lions."
So Daniel prospered during the reign of Darius and the reign of Cyrus the Persian.
Daniel 6:25-28

May we all show the courage and conviction of Daniel in our love and faithfulness to God!
