• tells us we'll be "reborn" when in fact it poisons our relationshp with Christ
• demands that we be dissatisfied... always wanting more material stuff

• requires us to plan, research, and cultivate relationships
• balance our desires with the needs of our community and world

The Challenge: Entertainment ... Shopping ... Necessities

Ideas to consider as we move into Advent and Christmas shopping:

• Be considerate when spending money.
• Know the limits of your budget (start saving for a debt-free celebration).
• Before you start buying, consider each person on your list. Think about your relationship and what significance it brings to your life.
• Consider your core values and whether what you are buying reflects those values.
• Consider drawing names for gifts, or giving one or two less gifts than last year.
