Prepare... for Jesus will Come Again

Sunday, November 29, 2009

On this first Sunday of Advent, we are reminded of the hope we have in Jesus Christ and look forward to a renewal of our spirit and love for one another as we anticipate and celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. The season provides an opportunity to experience love, mercy and justice as the nature of God as we open ourselves to God's presence and salvation through Jesus who was born and will come again.

But we are also reminded to "be always on the watch" and look for the signs foretold by Jesus in the Gospel of Luke:

"There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea. Men will faint from terror, apprehensive of what is coming on the world, for the heavenly bodies will be shaken. At that time, they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near." (Luke 21:25-28)
