What is Kairos and how can I help?
Kairos is a ministry that addresses the spiritual needs of incarcerated men, women and children, their families and to those who work in the prison environment. One of the ways to support this ministry is to provide cookies for the Kairos weekends that are held throughout the year at the prisons. Homemade cookies are a tangible expression of Christian love and an indication of God's concern for a group of people who seldom encounter either in the course of their daily lives.
You may bring cookies to the church on Sundays or anytime during the week during business hours.
Cookie Guidelines:
Cookies that are acceptable: oatmeal, peanut butter, molasses, chocolate chip, ginger and sugar. Cookies need to be a type that will freeze well. Recipes are available at the church if needed.
Cookies should be between 2 and 2 1/2 inches in diameter and not more than 1/2 inch thick.
it is very important not to use icing, sugar or any other type of coating on the outside of the cookie. Do not add any kind of fruit or nuts to the cookies.
The Key Ingredient: Prayer
Pray over the cookies as you prepare them, that each cookie brings the inmate, officer or warden who eats it closer to God.
Packing the Cookies:
Bag thorougly cooled cookies in a clear gallon-sized Zip Lock freezer bag, 3 dozen cookies to a bag. Bring the cookies to the church.
