Icon DisplayIn the realm of the sacred, the word "icon" has been used for centuries to refer to images of holy subjects painted on wood. Artist Deborah Anderson, like other Iconographers, has followed ancient rules and prototypes as she "wrote" these 14 beautiful icons. They are meant to be visual aids to prayer, drawing us into God's story, always pointing to Jesus.

The 14 Icons on display in the church foyer above the Sanctuary doors are the Archangel Michael, Moses and the Burning Bush, the Prophet Elijah, John the Baptist, the Archangel Gabriel, The Nativity of Our Lord, Mother & Child, Saint Simeon, Betrayal of Christ by Judas, Virgin of Vladimir, Lamentation, Extreme Humility, Resurrection Morning, and Christ Pantocrator. They will be on display through Easter, 2010. The community is invited to come and view these beautiful images and read their stories. The church foyer is open each weekday from 9 AM - 5 PM, and Sundays from 8 AM - 1:00 PM. The church foyer is generally open on Monday - Wednesday evenings as well.

To learn more about Iconography and the Icons in the display, pick up a booklet in the church foyer or visit Deborah's website at www.edensings.com.

The Icon shown at the top of the page is the "Virgin of Vladimir".
