Details
"Dress a Girl Around the World" is an organization working with Hope4Women International to serve girls so poor they can only dream of ever owning a new dress. They transform pillowcases, sheets and donated fabric remnants into dresses any little girl can be proud of.
Join us on Thursday, June 30 at 6:30 pm as we kick-off our own Dress A Girl ministry by having a "sew-a-long"! Both sewers and non-sewers are welcome. Those who don't sew can cut or iron. The pattern is simple but produces versatile dresses quickly. Be on the lookout for gently used pillowcases that are not too lightweight (for modesty no pillowcases that can be seen through). Garage sales and thrift stores are good places to find them. Also, is you could bring any of the following: white thread, 1/2" or 3/4" elastic, lace to add as trim, double fold bias tape (not the very thin size) in various colors, scissors, safety pins and straight pins, and sewing machines!
Last year, Dress a A Girl delivered over 12,000 dresses to 35 countries. The goal this year is 50,000 dresses!! So please come and join us in the Celebration Hall!
