In this week's message, Pastor Lindsey re-enacted the story of Jesus' baptism from Matthew 3:13-17 as we remembered our own baptism. Jesus' ministry begins with His baptism, and concludes with His mandate to make disciples of the nations, baptizing them and teaching them to obey all that He has commanded.
John hesitated and experienced discomfort when Jesus approached him to be baptized. How often as baptized followers of Jesus do we experience tension between ourselves and what Jesus is asking us to do? In giving ourselves over to Jesus the tension is resolved, the power of the Spirit is unleashed, and the identity of Jesus is revealed to the world.
